scam?

>Jack answers:
>Absolutely. Its been here a thousand times. Stay far far away from these people.
>>Just ask yourself this series of questions:
>>If YOU were selling the car, would you sell it well below market value, for any reason?
>>Would you have to ship it somewhere, or if you were selling that cheap, would you be able to find many buyers in your own city?
>>If you were going to ship the car, would you sell it too cheap, then PAY to ship it to the buyer?
>>If you paid to ship it to the buyer, and sold it dirt cheap, would you give them a right to refuse, or tell them 8220;A deal is a deal8221;?
>>If they refused the car, that you sold too cheap, and paid for shipping on 8211; would you then pay for return shipping? Or would you tell them that the return freight was their responsibility?
>>I think you can see all the holes in this often-repeated scam attempt.
> >>Car Scam? 8220;Ebay Invoice8221;?
> >>I found this >car> in autotraders and i sent an email to the guy saying i was interested and this is the first reply i get:
>>Hey,
I am selling this >car> because my unit will be sent back to Iraq.I have no use for the >car> anyway, due to my job.The price is low because I need to sell it before Oct 30th. The >car> is in great condition and runs great. I have a clean title ready to be signed. The >car> has no electrical or mechanical problems. It is still available for sale if interested, price as stated in the ad .The >car> is in Billings, MT; in case it gets sold I will take care of shipping. Let me know if you are interested, email back.

>Ok so the guys goin to Iraq and selling it cheap, i can kind of sympathize because i am active duty Marine and i know some things have to be rushed, but this seems a little too good to be true. The guys askin $3100 for a >car> that could easily go for over 10 grand, plus with a bluebook of 13-14 thousand.
>>Ok this is starting to get boring so ill sum it up. The guy asks me for my Full Name and Delivery Address for the >car>. I send it to him and this is what i get:
>>Thank you for your email.I will ask >ebay> to send you an invoice with the terms of this transaction. Please email me back after you receive it
>>(Note the no spaces and no period, i don8217;t know, just seems weird) Oh and who the hell says 8220;thank you for your email8221;. That just seems kinda stupid and fake.
>>Ok so in my spam folder, i get this 8220;>ebay> invoice8221;. Its got the guy selling the vehicle and his address (no phone #). Its got my info i gave him. AND its got this 8220;>ebay> agent8221; detail, with name and address (again, no phone #)
>>Oh and the invoice ended with:
> >> >eBay> Customer Support (Trust and Safety Department)
>ebay>@buyer-protection-support.com
Fax: 1-320-386-4864
>Which from what i read, >ebay> will only have to do with anything 8220;xxx@>ebay>.xxx.xxx8221; and the email was sent with a 8220;>ebay>@xxx.xxx.xxx8221; just another fact i guess.
>>So fellow do gooders, help me out. If this guy really is a scamer, i want to let the fine ppl at autotraders know and to remove that ad. THANKS!!!!
>
>Jack answers:
>Its a scam they come up with a story that sounds true but if its to good to be true than it is. If they could easily get over 10 grand for it they would sell it for that. Unless this seller has a rich family theres no way he would sell it for 7,000 under value. A 2003 toyota celica with 25000 miles is not ever going to be $3100, i sold my 8217;02 camry with 165,000 miles on it for $5000 (not to be disrespectful but the government doesnt pay people in the military much money too). These ebay scams happen all the time. Ebay will not send you a message like that. This happens way too much people say this is such a great deal and then they are out $10,000 the next day and never see it again and theresno way to get it back.
>>Anyone who knows about ebay scams?
>>I am trying to buy a new vehicle. I stumbled upon some Acura cars being sold by the owners. They are all very cheap. But when you email the person, they send back that they are out of town and will have to ship it to me, and they want to use >ebay> money policy. Something about I send the money to >ebay> but >ebay> wont send it to them until I get the >car> and choose to keep it.
>>Is that something that actually exists? Anyone ever done that?
>
>Jack answers:
>Ebay does not have an escrow service for third-party transactions.
>>This is a long-running scam. Your money is not held in any account for 8220;5-10 days8221;. It is withdrawn and gone once it8217;s wired. And there is no tracing or retrieving it.
>>The 8220;seller8221; is not in the military, divorcing, moving overseas, etc8230; They are scam artists sitting in internet cafes in Southeast Asia and Africa. Don8217;t fall for this.
>>Is this a used car Scam?
>>I was looking through the classifieds on Cragislist.com for a >car> and found one I was interested in and emailed the seller. The sellers reply sounded very strange and I wondered if this was some type of scam. His response is below, tell me what you think.
>>Hello,
You made the right choice! My 8221;2003 Toyota Corolla8221; is in great shape,no engine problems, damages or hidden defects. It was always garaged and never kept outside.i8217;m selling the >car> because my son suffers of a terrible virus and he needs an operation and I don8217;t have that money .The mileage is 52622 miles and the price is 4.200$.We will use >eBay>`s protection program for our safety.I just need your full name and address so i can open a case.(with no further obligation or fees).Have a nice day!

>Jack answers:
> > >>I was looking at adds on kijiji and saw a car that I wanted too and I got almost the same reply word for word except mine was from a woman who said she had gotten divorced and wanted to sell her car. The rest of the text was the same word for word. So stay away from that one!!
